GRRRRR :( Broke a string
grrrr. Was practicing Bach and my first string broke. I thouhgt I had a second set but alas forgot to order an extra set. Talked to Grace and she gave me a tip to light sand the bridge screw to remove a sharp spot. Ordered 2 sets of strings now. Glad I didnt have a gig tonight.

Wow! Your Bach must have just been too much for this world and that string. Good thing you weren’t gigging, like you said. Wow!

If it’s an outer string you can use a guitar string that’s of the proper gauge from your local music shop and that will do fine for quite a while. I’ve used daddarios and they’re fine. Anything should work ok though since it’s simple steel wire. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro

Re: GRRRRR :( Broke a string
Rob, did you have a “scronk” moment, or did the string just break?

Re: GRRRRR :( Broke a string
Hey Kevin. String just broke. I was informed it happens sometimes if the bridge screw gets a sharp edge on it and to remedy this to take a little fine sandpaper to sand down any sharp edge. The first string being light gage is rather fine so I’m not surprised. I’ve been practicing up a fret marker tonight.

Re: GRRRRR :( Broke a string
Interesting to hear about possible sharp bits. I've not broken one yet but I always have a whole spare set with me. I live in paranoia of busting a string day 1 on the ship and then having a 9 string for 5 weeks! I'm a bit like like Scott, my Alto strings are quite old but I like the sound. I have spare sets but know it will be a whole lot brighter if I do, maybe soon.......
