Post railboard color that provides best visibility for frets ?
does anyone who has seen a few railboards of different color have an opinion on which color provides the best visibility for the frets? from the pictures on stick.com it looks like the gold plasma provides the best contrast (due to its reflective properties) ? would anyone who has seen a few different ones up close agree with that ?

i'll probably order a grand railboard soon, but some of the colors don't seem to highlight the frets very well. ultimately i'm not sure how much of an issue that is with me, but i'd like to get whatever has the best fret contrast as i don't care about the color much other than for utilitarian purposes.

I had a blue one from the very first batch and I've picked up a few others over at Emmet's shop including all 3 of the plasma colors. My take is that in reasonable lighting conditions you can see the frets quite easily even though they're the same color as the rest of the fingerboard. The plasma colors have the same situation except the fret rails stand out a little better because the space between the rails is lightly grained before the finish is applied. This makes the rails appear highly polished and shiney compared to the rest of the neck even though they are the same color. So they should pick up and reflect a bit more light - assuming there IS some light. As a rock guitar player in the 60s who had to perform under strobe lights I can only shudder at having to perform on any Stick in the dark. Tom G. said he played one gig where someone thought it would be fun to turn off all the lights and he was glad he had those glow-in-the-dark markers.

And feel it. I now instinctively count the frets by feeling them passing under my fingers while changing position.
