Post Playing with two sticks
Just curious since I never made up my mind about transitioning from 10 to 12 strings... So I just ended up using both in my shows: the railboard for some songs and the grand with stickup for some others.... it just depends on what I'm going after.
The two extra strings come in handy sometimes but the tone of the railboard is pure magic for most.... maybe it's my past playing acoustic but having instruments with different tones is a big creative deal for me. Who else has the same problem and brings more than one stick on stage?

Check out Satoru Tuji, a Japanese Stickist. Sometimes he plays two sticks at the same time.

I too played a Railboard. A blue one out of the first batch. But I got soon got a Grand and got used to having 6 strings under my right hand which equals more range and scalar elbow room in a given fretboard vicinity. And the extra high string on the bass side, which I tune down a whole step so it's an octave above the 10th string, opens up many extended chords with my left hand that aren't in reach otherwise. When I pick up my old ironwood 10 string it's fun but I run out of strings quick plus I have to use 2 hands to play a 13th, 7b9 or +9 chord, etc. Lotsa guys get around fine tho with 10 strings and like the spatial economy and string spacing so god bless em. Right now I'm scheming for a Grand Railboard when they come out and that plus my bamboo Grand/stickup should give me 2 different voices with the same harmonic reach.

Hi Rod
for me this is a privilege and not a problem to have more than one stick -> and to play them.

Indeed. Half Fretless and fretted. For obvious reasons

Railboard 10-string, and Rosewood 10-string always sounded completely different and then the NS came along and sounds completely differenter. Now I want a 12-string but probably a 12-string maple, rather than RB.

Then you throw in the 2 Acousticks in the world (please!), and you got another sounding Stick altogether. Then the Stickup versus the others and active versus passive, and hell, just having one or two with some shiny metal coatings, even if they sound they same....

Thanks for the replies. And how exactly do you guys plug them into the same effects chain? I mean, I got both of them connected to a small mixer, then the stereo out goes into the sp2 then to the two boss gt001 and then into the sound system. Using different presets for each stick thus easily going back and forth between both of them in the middle of the show with little trouble. Was considering an even smaller mixer, the ART SplitMix4 , wich is the size of a regular DI. Anyone tried it?
