Post Comparative chart of all Stick tunings
Hi
I found this on stick.com.
Never noticed that.
Nice when you are thinking about different tunings.

I don't see mirrored 4ths as a tuning for 12 string Grand... Uh-oh!

Who do you think you are, Rob Martino? jk.

I also noticed they call it Accompaniment instead of Bass for the higher pitched instruments.

Mirrored 4ths only shows up on SG12. I suppose in a way this makes sense, because 5ths are supposed to help in the lower register from chords getting muddy.

There is no doubt that bass/melody lines in 5ths are a bit more foreign, but I like to think of it as an opportunity for composition.

I am nobody of note, just some guy up in Northern Canada who likes playing the Chapman Stick. I have never said I was any good at this instrument, and definitely do not draw comparisons between myself and anyone...

I get that it's the least popular of all tunings on the Stick; but I'd like to think that it's still a valid Stick tuning, I mean Stick Enterprises sells Mirrored 4th string sets so why wouldn't one have the tuning included on the comparison?

Probably just an oversight I would say...

Did you miss the jk? I don't think you are a bad player. I just think of Rob Martino as the champion of mirrored 4ths. It wasn't meant as a comparison. If it was in poor taste, I apologize.

IMO, Stick Enterprises sells plenty of things that work for other players that Emmett wouldn't necessarily choose to play, such as 12-strings, such as mirrored 4ths, and so forth. That's what's neat about it as a new instrument. There aren't really rules, just guidelines. At least once a year, I think I read about Greg trying something just a little bit different.

If you want the bass side for bass lines more than chords, mirrored 4ths could be fantastic. Since there are so many roles for each hand and each grouping of strings, 5ths could be more versatile. It comes down to what you want the Stick to do.

:D No, no. I'm not offended or anything, just want to make it extra clear that I am aware that I am an insect is all, definitely not trying to be anyone but me - no worries! I really should have put one of those smileys in the previous post haha

I am probably breaking the rules, but I use the Stick in M4 for chords and bass lines, the (M4) tuning doesn't have much of a negative impact on it's flexibility in my opinion...

But the title of the thread was "comparative chart of ALL stick tunings" hahaha Should probably change it to "ALMOST all" hahahah
