Post subject:  Alternative Stands for the Stick?

Hello Fellow Disciples of the Stick!

So, I'm looking for alternatives and/or ways to rig up a good stand for the Stick. I have a 12 string Grand. The stand on the stick site is one way to go...but when I was at Interlochen last week, one of the guys had a Bassoon stand he was using. That got me thinking, what is everyone else doing?

So...what are you guys using for a stick stand?

Thanks

TP

Gene Perry has a pretty sweet stand setup. Not sure how he does it but if he doesn't drop in on this thread you should find him and bug him about it.

TP, What Josh is talking about is a Stick stand that you can use to play the Stick without needing
to 'wear the Stick' on your body, with no belt or strap; just walk up and play. It works great and is called the "TAGG Interface". Gene is the man to contact about that.

From your post though I think you want a stand for your Stick to live in (or on) when your not using it, right? Out-side of the good old fashioned "bassoon stand" a lot of people, including me
use a metal guitar stand that has a U shaped bottom part that rotates :|.

Just rotate bottom bigger U to the side so the bottom of the Stick sits centrally on the the rail.

The top part that holds the neck will need to be bent open so the Stick can fit into it.

Easy, 10 bucks at GC 8-) .

Hey Tom. I love my Bassoon /bass clarinet stand. It's by Hercules. It folds up and the yolk or what ever the holds the neck is wide enough for the width of the stick. It's also rock solid. You only need to make a holder at the bottom to hold the bass of the stick. I'll try and take a picture. Should have let you try it. Guitar stands I found flimsy and fell over

A pic of the mod at the bottom would be great! Never even thought to ask to try it, just was admiring from afar......which sounds creepy at best

I 3D printed a base adaptor for a regular guitar stand! Works very well at 100% infill!

Scott I was going to mention that you make the base parts. I'll post a pic of what I did but yours is better I might buy one from you

This is something I created out of aluminum. Medium soft neoprene rubber padding on the neck brace and bottom pocket. I dipped the feet in that canned liquid rubber that you find on the handles of a pair of pliers and it's very tough. Nice and sturdy. Not at all tippy. My next version will fold up into a smaller package and maybe I'll anodize it this colour.
