Post 3d Printed Guitar Stand Adaptor (For Stick!)
So, I have had a 3d printer for a few months, and after printing off a bunch of goofy stuff for fun, I thought I might try and make something practical for myself for the Stick! Now, I have a cheap 'ole guitar stand that I put a piece of cloth-covered plywood onto, and it works not too bad, but it's a wee bit flimsy, and I wanted something a bit more secure that looks a little bit less cheap. (I know, I know... just buy a Stick Stand, right?)

Anyways, here is my first prototype for the base, it works really nicely, and looks pretty not too bad in my opinion... Thoughts?

I've been thinking about getting a 3D printer.

Many of my friends have them to build toys.

Most worthy! You're gonna make me get a 3D printer yet!

Now, if someone can make my Sticks have a guitar strap and knee bar like the NS, that would be cool! Or maybe it wouldn't work at all--maybe the physics are different.

Another DBro holder could be 3D printed--maybe with parts cut out for coolness? I'd think that I'd want to put fractal patterns into my DBro holder made from sintered aluminum or whatever the cool people make 3D Stick lap holders from (plastic is fine too!)

Actually, I'd print 3D fractals all day long, like I do anyway. But I've resisted the lure of the 3D printer so far, hoping that the tech will improve and the prices will fall.

Living vicariously through you, though! Keep those ideas coming!

very cool post. I need one of those plastic holders. I made one out of wood and it looks alright. What you made Scott is very cool.

Stephen , Id love to see something made with one of your fractal patterns. With a 3D printer that should be no problem.

FWIW, rather than getting a 3D printer of my own, I've done several projects through 3D Hubs. https://www.3dhubs.com/

Once you have your final file, you simply upload it and select a material. You then get a bunch of quotes to choose from.

I have now built a great working relation with a local guy who does my printing for a very low price. I can pick the object up for free or he simply pops it in the post for a few bucks.

Hey, guys! Thanks for checking it out! That piece is built from plastic, at about 20% infill. It's a decent prototype, but I am concerned about the strength of the "Rod" part on the assembly, so I did one with 50% infill, and it's a lot sturdier, a bit more weight and quite a bit stronger. Mark 2 is a lot better to be sure!

But, at the end of the day do I trust a piece of plastic to hold my precious Sticks in place? Hell, no! Today's revision will have me making the chamber of the rod that connects to the assembly semi-hollow so that I can insert a bolt, or a metal pin of some sort in there.

Lots of folks get a 3d printer, and they go crazy making Pokemon figures and Darth Vader masks and stuff. I did a bit of that to learn the machine, but I am trying hard to make practical things with it.

I'm still sitting on the fence with the 3D printer idea.
In the meantime, I bought a pyro printer from Russia.
