Hi Kev,

you can leave the truss rod as it is. No need to loosen it.

Cheers,
Johannes

When changing strings and/or oiling neck, i never remove all the strings at the same time, so there's no need to adjust the truss rod as the action of the strings upon the neck stays roughly the same.

Never. Proud owner of a Stick since '85. And THAT one (Ironwood #1212-Sylvia) has the imbedded truss rods, later upgraded to a functional truss by Emmett. And I take all the strings off, and clean and oil, and replace and retune, and it's usually "no truss adjustment needed", unless I've made a string gauge/tuning change change...

I parade around the house in my wife's clothes when I change strings. Zappa, Captain Beefheart, maybe some ELO blasting in the background.

Oh yeah, the whole family clears out on string day. Want the house to yourself?

String day, hmmm hmmm.....

I make some exceptions - Mardi Gras, Cinco de Mayo. Sometimes it's just because it's Thursday... ;)

I am kidding of course. But the idea that it is time reserved for just you and your instrument is special. Maybe you're a Skyrim guy? Think of this as leveling up your weapons or armor. Some guys have model trains, Bruce has his planes (as does Kevin, but, like, he flies IN them). You get the point.

String day is special. And not that it makes a bit of difference, but I strip off all the strings and then try to clear up the cruddy waxy flesh that has been ground into the fretboard (Bamboo guys, you know what I am talking about). I check each side of the rail with an xacto blade and then, the Watco rubdown. Wax on, wax off. String up, stretch, tune, stretch, tune.

And then there's usually red wine. hmmm, string day.
