Wow...

Got to say. pretty shocked and horrified here.

I guess my question would be to Steve A/ Lee V..
Using 5 strings and 4ths. and presumably one hand.
How would you voice something like this?

An "Oye Como Va" type organ progression/ vamp?
E-G-A-C to A-F#-A-C

...of course we can imagine it...

...to celebrate a shitfest is human...
...to fail starting a shitfest is human as well...

...just tell us, who can always win the first price?...

...just forgott to ask, Mr K Rex, what's your opinion on tuning in 3ds?...

Since you ask
What you're offering is Am7 to D7 (I minor to IV dominant)
There are many ways to do this with multiple strings and two hands. This can be voiced open or closed
In other keys same as Evil Ways, I Keep Holding On ,
I Wish, Spooky . I've taught this very progression numerous times, even to folks on this forum
I've played them all on Fourths tuned Sticks including Oyo Como Va

Realize that the high strings on the bass side that can be used interspersed with the melody strings with the same right hand. I'll repeat what I said earlier from my experiences,( and anyone is totally free to ignore them)
I've played all sorts of repertoire from T. Monk and Bird to Led Zep, Floyd and Stevie Wonder.. I was always able to find a way to voice a chord or melody without changing my tuning. Even intricate tunes like Blue Rondo ala Turk and Aerial Boundaries are possible . Working in them as we speak. Check out a new Metheny's tune video I posted to FB
Hope that helps

So.. you have ignored the question and the premise of the whole question.

So using... ONE side as a midi controller.. how do you voice the chord progression in question, in fourths? Having a distorted organ sound on the treble strings while having a simple stick bass sound on the other?

Ah being challenged yet again. I would do it using the resources I mentioned and I've actually done this progression many times.
If you're not happy with that solution than as you wish, tune your Stick in thirds and have a blast. I answered your first question whether 3rds was more prudent than 4ths. You don't like my responses so do as you wish. I only gave you my experiences. Obviously you mistrust my words. So be it.
I sincerely wish you a wonderfully creative journey..

I think 3rds would be great. They absolutely would open up a range of cool close voicing.
I think Steve is great. And he had encouraged you to pursue your dreams your way.
I think Mad Monk has great things to play and say and share and teach.
I think Greg is great. And he has encouraged everyone to pursue their music their way.

You don't HAVE to show respect to Greg or Steve or even Emmett. But I do have to because Steve really helped me understand and grow and Greg opened doors for me as a teacher and a friend.......and Emmett well. He change my life. So I'm proud to respect and call these men my friends. I respect everyone on the forum.

I think we can get along, I really do.

Please keep making music everyone.

Brett
