As for inlay. What works for me is to just put those 2d grader "good work" tin foil stars on the C notes to use as reference until I get used to a tuning. It has worked really well on my Warr8 in the past to go from 4ths to 5ths to crafty. on a 10str (So, for example on 5ths/4th E is always one fret down and one string over from the C) going from standard/ MR to Double bass is just a matter of sliding the reference up or down until it is learned.

Does this means Trombone is not a good instrument, and we should try to replace its way of working... let say by replacing the coulisse by keys?

Ah, "coulisse". French for slide. I play trombone, never heard it called that.

They have it. Maynard Ferguson played one. AND it had a slide. I believe it was called the M.F. Superbone.

Wow, I just read this whole thread. I was really sorry to see this discussion go sideways. I have limited knowledge of music theory (drumming for over 50 years), but I get what Sean wants to do, melody for MIDI, Bass for Bass. Different tuning because he would be using the stick in a totally different way. Makes sense now, although it didn't when I first read it. When I finally 'got it' (after many pages of comments), I could understand the initial confusion and subsequent comments.

It was just so disheartening to see name calling and disrespect for ANYONE offering ANY opinions. I am glad the end of this thread reverted back to the original intent (as per Sean). Most comments are given in the right spirit, whether you agree or not with the content of said opinions. Great if you do, but civility and respect if you don't. Sometimes things are printed in a 'comedic' sarcastic way, but without vocal intonation, it doesn't always come through that way. So please, let's be nice, respectful and careful out there.
