Re: strap alternative
Kev, it's as if we just talked about this! Thanks for sharing this, it's a really practical looking solution it looks like. "Next" on my list of Stick projects...
Changing strings as I post this. I will miss the rust and dead flesh.

Re: strap alternative
Honestly i was pretty sceptical at first but the sling looks pretty efficient and I'd be interested in playing around with it. Personally i don't carry the same issues as he does and i actually like the weight of the instrument in my hips as its the same weight as some heavy guitars and those always hurt my shoulders after a while.
Gene also uses a stand with his rig, and I'm sure a few other players do as well.

Re: strap alternative
That's pretty cool. I modified a guitar strap to use a a belt, but didn't think about setting it up like he did to serve dual purposes...

Re: strap alternative
Boaz it looks like just a stock retaining strap from the hardware store.....as for where it attaches to the stick.....looks like a schaller guitar lock. He must have removed the grommet from the stick and screwed in the receiving end of the schaller strap lock.
Josh, the weight on the hip has never bothered me either, its the shoulder strap I'm not too fond of.
Scott is was super cool to hang in GP with you Saturday! (Scott and I had a late night man date, I happened to be in his city overnight). We tweaked his truss as his strings were a mile away from the board......now hes styling! ....dood, I hope it aint buzzing and all is good.
I went out and bought a new strap today and I plan on attaching shoulder strap to it by just cutting two slits in the guitar strap and tightening up the loop to my playing angle. Not really sure how to approach the section where the belt hook connects......in a simple form, just using a 1/4 inch rope would work me thinks.....will post wee video when I get 'er done...
cheers, Karma Chameleon

Re: strap alternative
I love the strap Idea. I hate putting the belt hook in my belt. I dont have the biggest stomach but its not flat. Getting my thumb in behind is difficult. This might just work. I may try the same thing. It would be cool to stand and play although I almost always play sitting down.

Re: strap alternative
Hard to see, but I finished mine. Pretty easy, and I like it a lot. Works for seated playing too. Sorry about the playing...

Re: strap alternative
Ive been doing something similar with a vinyl police/security utillity belt and ive breen using a bit of a saxophone strap for the upper strap which locks in place.....however, i like this guys version way better than my solution so I think im going to cannibalize my unit and try his design......nice to know that i wasnt the only person thinking this way
