Railboard finishes
So I've a Railboard in the current production run (my first Stick) and until my instrument is allocated I still have some choice over what finish to go for. I'm down for black anodised but the other option I'm considering is the new brushed "nickel" plasma finish.
Anyone like to comment into this? Emmett has been extremely helpful with info. As I understand it there are advantages to both. Just wondered if anyone had opinions or advice that I might not have thought of..

Re: Railboard finishes
What does the "black anodized" finish look like again? Ah, there were the three. I couldn't link directly to the slide show pic I wanted of the gunmetal finish. As cool as the gunmetal is, you just can't beat the bling factor of the nickel. That or the gold! Actually, for me, gold! But what a great dilemma for you to have! Have fun!

Black is black. Take it. Well, unless you like pink ...

Re: Railboard finishes
I don't fancy the gunmetal so much - a personal preference only. Gold and nickel look amazing. The black anodised is the one Kevin Keith has got. It does look very cool and I like the contrast between the strings and the board. I'm not sure if the lesser contrast between strings and nickel board would be a consideration? OTOH the contrast between Rails and board should be greater with the metalised finish. I read that a lot of folk find the anodised Railboard a bit tricky to navigate at first due to the Rails being the same colour as the spaces in between. On the new brushed metal finishes the Rails are mirror smooth so they contrast with the brushed spaces in between. Genius. It's all genius. That's what makes it hard to decide! Too many fantastic options. Somebody is going to say just pick one and get on with the music...

I would love the gunmetal gray one, because I want an assault Stick!

We also have threads about applying various types of adhesive contrast as well. In the end, you should be playing mostly be feel anyway. Just pick one already. You know you want it.

Re: Railboard finishes
I'm a wee bit curious as to what's next, which probably relates closely to "What's possible?" for Railboard finishes. You can vapor deposit pretty much anything and until we get Marvel's adamantium going (an unbreakable axe?) or vibranium (that would absorb sound and then output...I don't know, funk magic?), or Uru metal (now I'm just getting my nerd on--that's Mjollnir to you (Thor's hammer))--anyway, complete nerd hijack of my own question.
What's next that would be cool to see on a Railboard? We've got "gold," "silver," and "gunmetal/bronze," so what's next? Platinum? I feel like I'm missing something obvious. The red is technically ruby, and the blue is technically sapphire (it's all aluminum oxide!) and the black is corundum. We gots the seafoam green, and plum, and what other kinds of shrimp? (mixing some Gump into my Marvel mix). What would people like to see? Are you not yet amused! I want ALL THE STICKS!!!!!!
--Nerdly Yours, Steve, but I wanna wallow in the Stick Bling!

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Yes bronze is an option in the hard-anodised finish. Certainly the most orangey colour on offer..
