Youtube wanderings
While i was Watching more and more videos about the stick , techniques, and other discussions about Emmett and the stick... I saw a Video about a guy named Tralian.. and his method of playing.. and something about flags and his own circle of 5ths... and the 1st video that explains this.. is based from the big dipper... i have a degree in music and music theory.. the guy ttys to explain his method in confusing large worded jargon. he used different markers and different ways of saying notes... No .. it was never an E Maj.. it was an E line flag flag small flag 2 circles with a line.. I am so glad Emmett didn't follow the weird communication as that guy did.. and his instrument has 4 or 6 strings... odd odd.. and the instrument looks like a sting ray....Proud Stickist .. and the Free hands Method is where it's at

Re: Youtube wanderings
lol I don't know what to say...
I mean, his "flag system" is a neat visual way to look at the location of #/b in 4ths. But... At the end of the day you are still going to need to learn your chords, you are going to need to learn your scales, and you are going to need to learn the location of the notes in your chosen tuning. 12 keys friends! - Each with a different combination of sharps and flats. What, you gonna mark up a violin or a Sarod? Gonna "remark" your guitars? lol I'm thinking that you just become aware of those patterns after a whole boatload of practice. Kind of like being able to "see" only the white keys on a piano, or only the black keys on a piano. "Seeing" the notes of the key of B major is not so easy. Or the notes of Ab Harmonic Minor, or the notes of Cmaj9#11 arpeggio...
And for him to say that guitarists think in octaves, it's just not true. A wide variety of guitarists from Pat Martino to Steve Vai to Joe pass to Yngwie to Tuck Andress al visualize the neck pretty completely I'd say, and with differing levels of complexity. Lenny Breau anyone?
And on Stick, well I know from my lessons with Steve A that he thinks WAY beyond simple octaves. I would bet that Emmett, Greg, and Bob are the same. An intervallic structure that makes for a great reference point, yes. The ONLY reference point? No.
I think that the simple "dot" markings are an elegant and concise way of providing a "cue" for the musician on guitar/bass. On Stick, the locations of those dots are even more relevant.
Buuuut what do I know? I'm a noob.
lol Funny stuff.

4 hypothesis :
- He's a Ron Hubbard aficionado ; - he's humorist ; - he's idiot.
Obviously, he can fulfill the 3 characters (and probably does)

Re: Youtube wanderings
I left a message on one of his videos talking about how confusing it is with his way and form of music communication.. Now he's trying so hard to state that his way is the true way of music communication... He can have his alien looking language and his weird flag concept but i myself don't buy into it.. i am so glad i can play and Emaj on a stick, harpejji, and Megatar
