Considering Mediums
Hi, all.
I'm sure many of you have tried light and medium gauge strings on the same Stick. What is the difference in sound and feel? I use lights and I'm considering mediums. I like the sound of lights but I am finding that when I play some of the weird chords shapes that transcribing classical music gives me, I can bend a string out of tune too easily.
When I played jazz guitar I liked medium to heavy strings. My bamboo grand will be coming pretty soon and I will be able to adjust everything.
Thanks,
-Eric

Good one.
Reminds me of the short forune teller who was on the run from the law.
She was a small medium at large.

Not real helpful and not funny either. If you have no advice then be quiet.
Eric: The only way to tell if you like medium gauge strings would be to try them. Especially if you are that heavy handed that you snork the strings out of tune. You're welcome!

Agreed. However, I would like to hear what other people think of the difference in sound between light strings and medium strings. I think this would be very interesting and valuable for many. There must be someone who has tried this? -Eric

Re: Considering Mediums
Eric can you be more specific? do you mean light melody and medium bass? or all mediums
I use heavys which aren't as expressive as lights or mediums its harder to get that Rob Martino smoothness but I like the feel. My next stick will be mediums i think.
oh and tritone, how heavyhanded are you? enquiring minds want to know.

Brett I don't know what I mean! I think I mean all mediums. But, it's the melody side strings that I'm bending out of tune sometimes. My new grand will have the fret rails, not the rods that I'm used to. They seem more expressive anyway, so maybe mediums will seem just as expressive to me. Thanks, -Eric
