Post Re: Which instrument to choose for my first stick...
Thanks everyone, for this discussion. I enthusiastically recommend the "Railboard", my newest 10-string Stick model and the one I currently play, also my new RMR tuning where the selection of string gauges is especially advantageous.

Greg's "Finding Home" sounds positively "down home", especially where the bridge starts in the relative minor. I was thinking along those lines with "Back Yard" (on my "Galaxy" CD and used in the "Dune" film).

Treasures buried under your nose.

Greg,

What color is your railboard?

Hey Scott, I'm still burning with desire to follow your steps on that one. If only I could convince my wife to let me spend the money....
Nevertheless, the railboard is perfect! I never really felt I needed the extra strings - until the day I get my hands on one... ;)

I bought my Grand (1st and only) just before Railboards hit the scene. The learning curve might have been less steep with just 10 strings, but I like having all the options, and use them. If you watch Steve A's video, he says the more strings the better. On the other hand, experts like Greg and the maker himself have tons of fun on 10 strings. Whatever you get will hold you for a long time.

It was a bit expensive, but worth every penny. Steve Adelson kind of "encouraged" me, haha Actually, I haven't touched my railboard since...

Ill get a 12 string when the exchange rate is close to par. I love my railboard. I would have ordered a twelve string railboard if one was available.
