Loving the Railboard Sound
Every time I play the Railboard, I'm struck by its tone. There is a purity to it, extremely focused and clear.
After pocket dialing my cousin a couple days ago I was reminded of this video of a piece I arranged for his mom's memorial. I just think it shows the melody side tone off really well:

Re: Loving the Railboard Sound
Except for the improv, this looks like a good song for beginners. Do you have tabs for it, or even just the chord progression and key?

Re: Loving the Railboard Sound
I agree with you Greg, the tone is really unique. Completely different from woods.

Re: Loving the Railboard Sound
+1 The Railboard has a very distinct tone, different from wood, yet still has the unmistakable Chapman Stick sound.
Luv your take on this tune Greg, thx for the repost.
cheers, kev

Re: Loving the Railboard Sound
Great sounds.... Great arrangement.... Great playing..... one question... GOT WOOD? or Bamboo?? I really wanted to like this instrument (and in saying this, it is a FINE instrument in all ways) however, I just could not get past it physically being cold and metallic... personal preference I guess.... Would love to have that sound, though...

Re: Loving the Railboard Sound
To me it doesn't even feel like metal. The annodizing makes it feel more like "stone". Yes it's cold when I first pick it up, especially if the heat isn't on in my studio for a few hours, but that doesn't last long (when you hands are on fire, this is not a problem ) Plays like a dream.

Re: Loving the Railboard Sound
The Railboard sounds great. Any chance its pickup will be turned into a module for the other Sticks?
