I very much appreciate how Emmett did that. Makes switching back and forth from Stick to guitar a lot easier with the different markers

I must admit that I never liked the dots (placement of the fret markers) on The Stick. I understand why they are that way and appreciate the logic behind it, but when it comes time to play, my mind just doesn't naturally think that way. Maybe it was because I had spent so much time playing bass prior to getting my Stick back in the 80s. Everything about The Stick was so new to me at the time. I often thought that I would have learned quicker if I had the fret markers positioned as on a standard bass or guitar to avoid yet one more new thing to learn.

Oh well, too late for me now, but new players coming from a guitar or bass background may want to think about this.

...funny, the markers are the markers,
don't look at them and then is nothing to learn... ;)

... but not looking involves learning not only how playing the note sounds and feels, but how your fingers look on the fingerboard. With that in mind, the fret marker are important even when you are not looking ... maybe even more so.

I've said it before, if you are not looking at your hands and you look down, you should never be surprised at what you see.

Them thar dots.......ha, good one Scott....Ya its a cool relationship them dotz. Octaves,,its circular,,feel the flow,,,harness the good energy, block the bad, feel the flow, it goes up and down and all around"........just tap it in......

Dots or linears, they sure do help though. Just in the last year and a half I've been able to play not looking down maybe 60% or so. But when I do look, its to position the next bits and pieces.....and thats where the markers come in.
I think when you take away the vision aspect, you other senses are more aware, much like a blind person (should I say visually impaired?.....as some of you may know, I'm very sensitive to the feelings of others.... ..) and that makes you a better player.

Still got lots of snow up in GP?
Halifax looks like Hoth right now......

cheers,
kev
