Post Re: Kevin Keith popping the bass - amazing
I saw greg do this at the Interlocken seminar
I still don't know how or what that magic was all I know is that it is VERY cool.
To me it was just jaw dropping hearing it
it is just one of those sounds that is just plain cool
( nice lick to have in your toolkit )

Thanks for the Video and the Thread

Tom

watch the video full screen and focus on what his left hand *index finger* is doing
he's "lightly wedging" his index finger(tip/nail?) underneath the higher pitched bass string(s)
from (his) left side of the string and popping the string up with the tip of his finger (right above where the nail ends? )

at around the :32 to :36 second mark you can see it happening the best. pretty cool..

I love KK's groove!! I am a Newbie, and my goal is to aspire to a level of everyone here.

This maybe off topic and I don't intend to hijack this thread but my question is....What kind of belt is he using? I like the width of it, it looks comfortable. If anyone knows or Kevin if you are reading here, please let me know publically or privately. Thanks!!

when i saw him at one of the stick nights it looked like it might have been a weight lifter type belt. it was a while back so i can't be all that postive about it.

Dude can really jam on the bass too - he's got a cool Abe Laboriel kind of strumming thing he starts doing later on in this video:
