Wow. Tab doesn't make that one easy.

This thread really makes me wish we had TL in front of the camera playing a few KC tunes. Steve Howe did it brilliantly for a few Yes tunes ( youtube: HoweEs175 ).

I heard or read somewhere Tony saying that on some tours he did not carry an extra amp for the melody side thus it was often not even connected which would explain why sometimes he seemed to avoid the melody side. I'll Be seeing Stickmen next month where I am confident he will play both sides.

Come now people.

Some of that was helpful...... My aversion to tab aside, can someone please tell me in precise musical terms what is happening with the flourish before the first groove kicks in.

Maybe I'm just lazy...

For the record tablature pre dates modern music notation, for whatever that's worth.

I have a classical guitar book with tab, back when I was learning to read music I had to put drafting tape over the tab to keep myself from looking at it.

I was at a "StickMen" gig early this year and Tony Levin was using the Melody side A LOT !!!
Many times, he's not even doing the "bass" part.

Not to change the subject from TL but....
OMG thanks Rob for posting that Howe link. I watched every one. His playing is so wonderfully melodic and his chord voicings...oh man.
