Re: NorthEast Seminar was GREAT!!!!!!
A big thanks to Brett for his energy, his efforts and his hospitality for hatching the idea and seeing it through. It takes a lot of time and physical and mental energy to make a seminar succesful. Congrats to Brett for doing this professionally yet user friendly. And a shout out to the students for being so eager to absorb the entire 2 days, be it musical/Stick info, performance or just the vibe of the event. Great show Saturday night. Everyone, pros and students put on a special Stick musical presentation. Always fun teaching with Greg who gave the students his valuable lessons on Stick to player relationship. All in all 100% successful and gratifying weekend. And Brett, please thank Wynn(sp.?) for her hospitality

Re: NorthEast Seminar was GREAT!!!!!!
Just got home, after stopping off in Delaware to visit family.
Thanks to everyone who came for making it such a great event. I really enjoyed the Stick Night concert. Brett's band was smokin', Steve made use of his half fretless-GK melodied Grand to full effect, delivering a very entertaining an diverse set, and Bright Brown rounded things off with some great songs, powerfully performed.
Thanks to Brett's band-mates Paul and Rich for joining me for a couple of tunes.
And thanks to all of the students who came for the weekend.
Another highlight for me was seeing two friends from college who were housemates of mine when I first got the Stick. I hope they enjoyed the show more than when they first heard me play...
Looking forward to the BC seminar in a few weeks.

Nice! On a side note: any more thoughts/opinions on the half-fretless? The only thing I know is that its a whole 'nother beast. Were there any videos or sound clips I missed?

Re: NorthEast Seminar was GREAT!!!!!!
The half-fretless was astounding in Steve's hands!!
The sound live was so upright-like, I must say, I was a bit surprised.
Steve let me noodle on it. Although I doubt I could ever do a Steve Adelson on one, I felt comfortable, Really comfortable. It felt like playing an upright bass, the sting tension ,the elasticity, It was a beast.
However, the work that Emmett had to put into such a mod is enormous. And for my simple brain the learning curve would be too great for such an instrument. So I think The half-frettless sits squarely in the proper hands. Steve Adelson was born to play that stick. What a great set he played at the seminar!!!!!!
My band was on after Steve. After his set my singer came up to me and said " man, I'd hate to be the guy who has to follow THAT guy" I said " you are" to which he replied "No, YOU are" Gulp.
So the half-fretless was incredible, But I think it is too much to ask to make it a production model.

Re: NorthEast Seminar was GREAT!!!!!!
Thanks for the review Brett. The performance night was great all around. There was a good variety. Four students bravely presented their music successfully. My set was all half-fretless and the tunes were very varied to show the instruments' possibilities. Brett's band was very tight with bows to ELP, Dream Theater and Yes. Great set Brett. Greg played a high energy style of his music as only he can. Good mix of tunes. And Bright Brown presented some nice songs with vocals, Stick and drums with brushes. All in all an entertaining four hours. I'm glad I could be part of it SA
