Pitch shift pedal = two new Sticks! D-tuna on a Stick!
If you want to try Baritone melody or jonezin’ for the low C of a Graphite, but don’t have the buckos, here’s an easy solution. Use a pitch shift pedal, like the Digitech Whammy, WH-1, and run it in detune mode ONLY on one side of the Stick. Let’s say you have a 10 string and it is tuned to Classic melody. Run the pedal ONLY on your Melody side, set the pitch shift to a 4th downward, (your G should sound like a D), and use the “wet” not mixed output, and viola your Bass side stays the same, and now your melody side is in baritone tuning! For the “D-tuna”, run the pedal ONLY on your Bass side, set the pitch shift to detune 1 step downward (your low D should sound like a C) and use the “wet” not mixed output. Now, play a run in key of C and when you get to the D play it once, then kick the pedal in and play it again, and now you will hear the C note. Kick it out, and you are back in regular pitch. If you leave it in ALL the notes will drop by one whole step, so remember to kick it in and out. - keep tappin’ and have fun! dave brosky

Good advice Dave! I do that for bass and guitar sometimes, but I find it really kills the tone.
