It's sounding pretty good. Keep at it. I'd love to hear more.

That's a nice practice session, combining traditional harmony with radical finger experimentation. Close to my heart, when I want to explore possibilities that no other instrument can do.

I for one do not explore enough “unique” things which we can discover on the stick, Nice Job Reystick!!

Re: How much?, and What Are you practicing?
Wow,. I'm blown away. My motivational energy has just gone through the roof. I have lately been on a downturn, wondering what am I doing. I have 3 years in, and still can't play a song through.
I am trying to learn the instrument, and music at the same time. When I hit those clams, it stops me, but I try to play through, for the most part. I hear things in my head that I want to play, but the Stick says play this, sometimes. I try to work in the mistakes. Hopefully soon I will have something cohesive.
Thank you. rOcNr0lL

Re: How much?, and What Are you practicing?
Thank you Mr. Chapman for creating the instrument that I will play, and learn, as long as I am above ground. A Million Thanks.

You're very welcome, ReyStick.
"I am trying to learn the instrument, and music at the same time."
That's it! The songs and song arrangements will crystallize later.

That's it! The songs and song arrangements will crystallize later. This is the goal! Learn the instrument and not just the songs.

The Instrument opens up opportunities I would/could not "find" on any other instrument. A lot of my "practice" turns into riffs, chordal movement, and eventually songs. I have a Zoom H2 in the tape in/out of my mixer ready to capture any half-baked idea, that's not under my fingers yet, ready to listen back to in the next session, to be brought to fruition thru repetition,repetition,repetition...

Re: How much?, and What Are you practicing?
I got a job as full time video specialist in July, and my practicing has become pretty spotty. I'm practicing when I can. I've also got a writing project on the side, and I find that I can only be inspired for a single thing - Stick play or writing - not both, in the same half of a day.
I'm still trying to learn new songs, and my band is patient with me, but I've gone from weekly open mics to bi-weekly. My video job is consuming 50 hours per week, but I'm only getting paid for 40. My family is there too, waiting for me to be available. I want to play, but right now it's hard to practice at all.
Oh well, obstacles focus the mind nicely.
