Post All hail the Truss Rod
I've not had to use the truss rod much , very little in fact for adjustments.
However....my Grand starting buzzing ever so slightly near the nut end and the Sticks now live in a Studio not heated overnight in winter.
So, back to Gregs excellent Truss Rod video & Bam! problem solved perfect low action again , no buzz.

But thats not the big news. My Alto still gets lots of use and I've been thinking somethings not right. This morning I look more closely at the action & its quite high, really high. Truss rod nut loose.
Check of Gregs Video & in minutes I've got what is like a whole different instrument & frankly I'm excited :D . Once again it's effortless and easy , my right hand is more relaxed and its a joy to play, and I think it sounds better also.

Good news since I have two one hour sets at a nice venue this weekend , another turning point for me I hope, split equally between Grand & Alto , both now in peak setup. Thanks Mr Howard.

In future I'll be paying much more attention to this aspect.

Post Re: All hail the Truss Rod
Hi Bruce,

when I took my (used) Alto this winter from an italian guy (he mostly plays classic guitar) the action of the Alto was set very high (more or less as a cheap acoustic guitar) by a luthier who had never seen a Stick before. The italian guy told me that he never touched the truss rod in all the years since he owned the Alto.

With the help of Greg's video and a post by Emmett here in the forum (I can not remember where it was) the Alto was perfect to play in a short time again.

I have to admit that I have to regulate the 10-string much more often than the Alto, but that's probably because of the longer scale.
