Both Frank Jolliffe and Ray Ashley were instrumental in guiding me in my tapping journey...............

Great post, glad you brought up Frank Jolliffe. "Bluesday" was the first tune I learned on my guitar and bass prior to receiving my Oak Stick! Frank is surely missed!

Thank you Brett Bottomley. You are a big time inspiration that has re-ignited my love of Jazz. Here is my 2 cent quote.

One looks back with appreciation to the brilliant teachers, but with gratitude to those who touched our human feelings. The curriculum is so much necessary raw material, but warmth is the vital element for the growing plant and for the soul of the child.
-Jung

Very nicely done Gene. In teaching it's the quality of the relationship - and the facility of that relationship to carry feedback - that really matters. As Robert Bly says, "something like food passes between them."

My casual observation is the more teaching is mediated by a device, the shallower the learning experience. I conclude it is "less nourishing."

Thanks, Brett, and everyone else for all the kind nods. Those of us who spend a lot of time teaching learn so much. It's a very rewarding experience, as Steve says. I'm enjoying teaching at the University of Virginia, also via Skype, and occasionally in-person lessons these days.

Looking forward to Interlochen.

Most of my teachers are long gone, but to Emmett and John D'earth I am so grateful.
