Free Hands Lesson 18
Okay, I am a Finale 2014 user; any ideas on a good approach to make 'study/practice' sheets that look like Emmett's scores as per this chapter?
It's gotta be quick and dirty, and so far GP6 is useless for this application...
Thanks in advance, guys!

Re: Free Hands Lesson 18
Attachment: Modal Guide mark 1.png @#@$%$!!! All right, I tried to do this myself, and kind of came up with a way using the "Graphics tool" and some quickly made things. I am thinking that with some revision, this could be pretty damn useful... I know, I know it's kind of primitive at the moment... lol My first "modal guide" for MR tuning... Voila!

Re: Free Hands Lesson 18
I feel your pain, brother, but I'm completely clueless here. I'm surprised none of the peeps that love notation (which is not me!) have chimed in. I like Sibelious myself but I don't use it much. And for a piano player, I sure don't write this stuff down for other piano players to play, like I did when I was younger and had girlfriends who could sight read anything you put in front of them, but couldn't make up anything. Best of luck!

Dont look at me, until I can play my two sets really well I'm not likely to write anything down.... , though I wish I could..

Re: Free Hands Lesson 18
All good guys. Actually, Emmett's method is most efficient with a pen and notation paper so far. Lol I have to get to know Finale better to, but this is an extremely efficient way of writing down arrangement and improvisation ideas. I will work at it a bit...

Re: Free Hands Lesson 18
You’re probably better off using the notation software to create a document that has the melody and blank staves below and add in the fretboard info either by hand or another program. I think Preview should be able to handle lines and shapes if you really want to have something that isn’t done by hand.

It actually works pretty good for me to just create the modal diagram in illustrator or Photoshop or something, and then do a graphic import in Finale. I suppose I could just use Preview if I had nothing else, but lucky me I have other softwares for that sort of thing! I think I have it figured out, lemme know if y'all have a more efficient way to do things along these lines...
