Post Playing Groupings of 5 notes in 4/4 time
Is there a term for groups of 5 notes?

And counting them?

Quintuplet, quintolet, or pentuplet. All are acceptable.

The name for me is not as important as the way to play it...

There is a great program for learning polytimes, called Bounce Metronome. You can set a 5:4 and it has several visual and auditory options to help lock the time in.

I use " ya ba da ba doo" from the Flintstones to get my quintuplets. The sylables are short so you dont stumble on them. Listen to Zappa for the best in polyrythms Septuplets and even 11 tuplets in Black Page. Crazy stuff. Awesome genius Mr Zappa
