Post Re: Musical attributes
While I'm no genius on any of the instruments I play. ...stick now being the newest. ....I would say "feel"

I do a lot of worship music for the past 10 years and found a way to play (mostly guitar) in a way to convey whatever feeling I choose.

By using expression, phrasing, and feeling. ..making the instrument "sing". Mind you. ..not thru the most awesome technique, but instead by reading the room and the people...and then singing thru the instrument to their hearts

Best example of a popular player that makes the instrument " sing"..... Neil Schon from Journey. I would say most of you. .if you think about it. .can sing the guitar solos from journey tunes. So instead of just playing a solo or a line of riffs....making the instrument sing over someone....and you know when you pull it off because people are truly moved.

Nothing more rewarding

Thank you very much...I'm glad it came thru over the forum as well as it did.

Feel free to tell that to every musician you meet....it's really a great attitude for all of us to have. I just wish i could have spent more than the few minutes with him.

my friends say i "get it". Frank Zappa would refer to it as "putting the eyebrows" on the music.
