Post Ninth chords tidbit
A very simple and cool piece of information.
To get ninth chords

1-Major 7/9th...left hand plays the root chord, let's say C Major in the bass.
The right hand fingers the same chord on the treble side and then moves down one string or a 4th to G Major. Result is CMajor7/9 (CEGBD)

2- minor 9...same concept but both hands are minor.

3- Dominant 9...same concept but Left hand is Major, and riight hand is minor.

This polychord application is amazingly simple on The Stick.
When I play, or convey these ideas to students, the systemetized relationships of the hands creates a friendly environment for creativity. Like talking, you want it to be natural and effortless. Then add expression

One of these "combination" I like to use a lot is a 7th dominant chord a the tritone chord in relation with this one. I give you an example:

C7 in the left hand and a triad (it's always a triad) of Gb in the right hand...notes included C, Bb, E, Gb, Bb, Db...that gives you a C7b5b9.

Or C7 in the LH and a triad of Ab in the RH...notes are: C, Bb, E, Ab, C, Eb...and you get a C7sharp5 sharp9...sorry, I don't find the "sharp" sign on my computer...lol.

When you went over polychords the first time in a lesson months ago, I was intrigued but very intimidated. I really had no background in music chords, theory, etc. The second time we chatted about it I had a better understanding, and the stick geometry was starting to sink in. Last lesson the light bulb finally went on... I got it Steve :o Thanks!!! Now it makes perfect sense.

More of this to come in future lessons Rand. Using The Stick's ultra logical tuning the chemistry becomes very simple. Get yiur light bulbs ready
