And for more on the specific power of 5ths, especially when you have only 5 "bass" strings, see this video:

The more i learn, the more what you do makes perfect sense. And the more I see you do it, the better glimpse I have of just how long the road ahead really is.... Amazing video to keep coming back to, for years and years. An inspiration. Thank you Greg

You know, every now and then I watch your vids Greg, and I am always floored by your ability to play and write. Every aspect of your music is 'under control' and you definitely have your own way of doing things.
I bet you work hard, practice a lot, and are brutally honest with yourself, even now at the level you are at with this instrument. People like you, Steve and Bob are a treasure.
Amazing stuff, thanks for sharing.

Indeed, that's a great video, Greg. The fifths are definitely the optimal way to go.
After watching this, probably for the second time, I am reminded that I really need to see about lessons for this year, that's for sure. In the past year, I made some strides, but I still need to get a few covers under my belt.

It's pretty amazing, actually. Those big intervallic jumps made with accuracy, all the while the right hand is just doing it's thing. Autumn Leaves is my favourite part of that video...

Chris Thanks, Chris, there is time in the schedule right now, but a big project I'm doing from late February to April will make it tough for me to take on new students then, so get started soon if you can. And Scott, thanks as always for your feedback. I'm not really a jazz musician, I just play one on TV...
