Post Stick - Billie's Bounce

https://soundcloud.com/jayesskerr/stick-billies-bounce

No solo on this one, and it was kind of a bitch to get it read down, as I'm trying to incorporate a more percussive element into my playing as I read stuff down. Pretty simple stuff, and yeah it's primitive but not bad for today's practice. Now, I have worked this one out before, but it was always with a much simpler RH part. This one took a bit of time tonight, but it was worth it, I like this tune a lot...

A tune a day so far looks like this (complete with not doing one on Monday! hahaha)

Friday = Layla
Saturday = Giant Steps
Sunday = Satin Doll, Imperial March, Carry On My Wayward Son
Monday = goofing off playing video games or something with my kids. Might have mowed the lawn...
Tuesday = Bach Minuet In G
Wednesday = Billie's Bounce

Peace out, dudes!

I think I actually like this one the best. I may develop this one more. I know Flint did a version of the tune, but has anyone else taken a stab at this one on Stick?

... Or any other Charlie Parker tunes? I personally really like bebop jazz, Parker's heads are fluid and represent some extremely cool ideas with some totally cool stuff to be "influenced" by, Even if one is just working on reading down the head, I'm thinking there's some definite value in checking it out... At least I feel that I benefitted from reading the tune down.

I was practicing the chord changes to this today, and y'know the Stick is a really great instrument for "playing changes" when working on "spontaneous composition" (improvisation) ideas. It's pretty interesting how once you get to know the instrument and start adjusting to chord changes how natural it becomes. Lol Still very slow, and definitely in it's infancy, but doable...

Charlie Parker rocks!
