Warr raises their prices
WTF???
A Warr Artist will now set you back over 4,000 clams. A Phalanx will cost 5k.
That's serious cash. That is a down payment on a car. I love Warr and all, but I will ask him to share why the prices have been hiked almost 1k in just over a year. Maybe there is a good reason. Maybe there isn't. How would we know? The instrument manufacturers are not talking.
These are very expensive niche instruments we play....

Re: Warr raises their prices
No offense, but that seems normal to me. If he isn't talking, try figuring out what the costs of the exotic woods are going for nowadays. I'm wondering if the supply of environmentally friendly woods of that type is diminishing in supply. Back in the day when I bought my Zon, the same store also sold Alembic. Check out Alembic's prices now Back then a lot of exotic woods came from private farms, with little to no impact on rainforests. I know someone with a side business that uses the same woods. After the holiday I'll ask him his opinion on this.

I wonder how difficult it would be to make hemp laminate, somewhat like bamboo laminate, on a small scale.

Rigid but tough, rope impregnated with a resin under heat and pressure, might be the ultimate in stranded strength. Stacked thin sheets of cloth, impregnated in such a way, are used as propeller thrusters in jet engines. I tried building two Sticks out of this man made material in the mid '90s, only to find that it was too flexible, almost like very hard rubber.

Re: Warr raises their prices
When did thus change happen? I look at their web site occasionally, and it doesn't look like there have been any changes or additions since October, 2013...
When SE makes a price change the effective date is always published at the top of the price list.
So is this really new, Kev, or are you just noticing it for the first time?

Re: Warr raises their prices
Could it be possible that Warr is trying to price himself out of having to produce instruments? Given how few Warr guitars there are, I can't imagine this is the guy's day job.

K so, this is totally not relevant to this post, but my questions has got the word "Warr" in it so close enough... Kev - what your rig when you play the Warr in those recordings? (or live)? I really liked the songs you posted and what I assumed were your parts in them...show me yours and I'll show you mine??
