New Instrument Announcement -- $995 12-string ZenTapper
*** Product Announcement *** Hello, Stickist forum folks, This is a brief announcement about a new-design tapping instrument available either with the 'Inverted-Fifths' tuning favored by Chapman Stick players, as well as 'BassBottom' and other tunings. The price/performance of this tapping instrument (introduced at $995) may be of interest, as well as the very pleasant sound and unusual new construction design. Photos and details -- http://zentapper.com This instrument is a further development of a home-brew design called the 'TapLadder' created by R.J. Goos and described very fully on Tappistry.Org tapper's forum in 2009. If you have questions or you wish to order, contact information (phone and email) and an online store is provided on the ZenTapper website. Thank you Stickist folks for your kindness and courtesy in permitting this product announcement on the Stickist forum. -- Traktor Topaz, for Sterling Systems (sister company to Mobius Megatar)

R. J. Goos' original TapLadder was a really clever design, to be constructed simply from inexpensive materials...for people who don't have $1000.

Re: New Instrument Announcement -- $995 12-string ZenTapper
Jay's design was brilliant, elegant in a way. For folks who never saw it, here's his history page -- http://rjaysplace.com/tapladder/history ... story.htmlAnd here's a video showing him playing it -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GWPYJ5yO-3QFor those who wish to build, this is a great way to do it. It's not just for people who don't have $1000; it's for anybody who'd enjoy the fun of building on their own. And the impressive thing to me was that the instrument was designed so that it could be built without a shop full of tools. The only power tool required is a drill. He got his pickups and tuners and strings from me, but Stew-Mac for parts and Stick strings would do. On examination, I think you'll see the ZenTapper's design enhancements are pretty much necessary for long-term use, for example the body rigidity for physical stability, smooth curves for comfort of the hands, shielding the electronics, adding volume pots, guitar strap buttons, lapbar connector, full twelve strings, removing sharp edges and screw ends, etc. And observation suggests that most people don't choose to build. There just aren't very many home-built instruments compared to all the manufactured ones, which usually go for quite a bit more than $1000. However, the sound of the two instruments -- homebrew TapLadder(tm) and manufactured ZenTapper(tm) -- it's still very similar. And that's a good thing, for it's quite lovely. -- Traktor

I know some here don't like to read this sort of thing, but Traktor has become the Viagra spam of the Stick networking sites. And alas, explain that picture of TT making a face holding his new product. Compelling??? Yes Traktor, you've succeeded once again in stirring up this Stick advocate's dislike of your intrusive devious sales pitches.

Hi, Steve Adelson,
I'm sorry you feel that way, and that you feel this is an appropriate way to communicate.
It's my wish that you will be happy, find peace, be free.

Communicate???????????? Indeed. Traktor says............. Trust me, I'm extremely happy, free, and at peace.... But still irritated by your invasive messages in a community I'm very involved with (don't bore these folks with a response. If you need to, send me a PM and we'll take it from there)

Well, TT (I forgot your real name, maybe Steve can provide us the link I remember he posted a while ago...) , I would be interested if it can get my wife back at home within 30 days, if you make a discount on those wheel rims and offer a 30 XL condoms pack for free in

Frank Lesko wrote: How inelegant. I disagree. The original Tapladder (I own one) is very clever and elegant design and manufacture process. I do personally agree that aesthetics are not its strongest point . IMHO the whole point of the Tapladder was to have a playable instrument at a very low price; I believe 1200$ defeat the purpose, not to mention that in same price range you have better alternatives in my opinion. Cheers, Daniel.
