I've seen this guy's stuff before. Amazing independence and control, and really impressive arrangements of the baroque works. I just don't care for his tone he's getting from that doubleneck. Get a Stick!

I think too that his tone could be better. In fact, I like it, but for this kind of music, it sounds too jazzy.

This guy is studying jazz counterpoint by going back to the baroque, just as pianists do...it's this study of the principles of music which distinguishes the musician from the player....

Funny with the comments on the tone. Sounds like fun, bright single coils. Whenever I hear a recording with the ACTV-2 and hear that it actually has EMG single coils I wonder why they can't sound like THIS recording. Stratocastery goodness.

You are right about his studies of counterpoint. He's a cool guy too, I met him at Etap2009. I agree with Greg, he has a very good control of dynamics.

The EMG's are stacked humbuckers, but they sound more like single coil pickups. Most of the time you're hearing people play them "direct" as full-range pickups, so it doesn't sound that much like a guitar.

Adam's playing through a guitar amp, I believe. If you want the instrument to sound like a guitar, that's the best way to get that sound.

I'm actually shopping for guitar amps now, checking out various tube amps. I've got an SG12 with a PASV-4 and also EMGs for melody pickups (edit: on my Grand Stick), so I'm looking forward to some more guitar-like tones, in addition to all those great full-range Stick tones.

Did you mean that your PASV4 module actaully has the EMG FT pickups on the melody side? Man, that would be cool.

No, I have the EMG on my Grand Stick (hybrid pickup). I've converted my Ten String Stick back to all Stickup to record the songbook tunes.
