I went to tappistry.org looking for any stick-related articles, but found it a bit foreign. These domains get sucked up.

I bought it a couple of years ago and tried to get a forum going, but nobody seems to give a shit about actual playing or music. So, I let it go... Stickist works.

Once a Tappistry, now a Travesty

Well, I think that there's always been some sort of drama associated with that website URL, that it was impossible to really do anything different. For the most part, it just invited people with really bad and negative attitudes to be trashy. I mean, there were a few really cool people on there, but the interest in actual music was almost non-existent. I had to delete quite a few posts, and banish a lot of people hell bent on being dicks... I just wanted to focus on music stuff...
Message boards like that may be a thing of the past...

I think that these days, if someone wants to make any kind of mark or get a following/page going about a music topic Facebook and Instagram seems to be the the way to go...

R.I.P. Tappistry.org lol

:D

Tappistry was niche of niche, seeing as Stick content usually comes here, so it was very quiet towards the end.
As i have written elsewhere, it seems a suitable closure that 'Tappistry' comes to an end.
Stickist is a slightly uncomfortable place for non-Stick brands, due to being Stick-dedicated (although i appreciate the teflon section existing). So a separate brand-neutral tapper forum is certainly needed.
In the absence of anything better i recommend the 'Touchstyle Guitar' group on Facebook. Although unfortunately, it is a Facebook group :D

As a Mobius Megatar fan, in addition to Chapman Stick, WARR, among others... I considered buying the domain, for the sake of bringing it back to being a Megatar forum, which as we all know - that's what it once was, or at least set out to be.

The Megatar crowd is their own scene, and when I saw that the forum was purchased by Jayesskerr, initially I was very happy, because I liked the Megatar crowd, but it soon became another Stick forum, which I felt was unnecessary, since there is only one Stick forum, and that's right here :) :) :)

So, I considered buying it - mulling it over, I believe I made a comment about thinking about doing so on the Tappistry page, which I recall was immediately shot down, so I pulled the plug on my profile there - and that was the end of that....

It's too bad, because it's nice to see different forums out there.
Variety is the spice of life !!

*and Jayesskerr is correct: there was some weirdness going on there as well, some users using it only for advertisment, or being jerks.
I'm sure there were times I could have been easily lumped into the second catagory, but it was never intentional.

Indeed, R.I.P. Tappistry.org

We've had our trolls here, but they were either shut down by Manny, or just grumpily went away. ("Don't go away mad, just go away..." Bugs Bunny)

This is, like, the only civil social network that I know of. Must be the re-wiring of the brain necessary to conceptualize Stickiness...

I may have come across as anti tapper.
I am not though.
Whatever works for you.

I just believe in Emmett Chapman's theory.

Practise makes you better than you where before, no matter what you practice.

I choose to practice Emmetts' theory , and use his instruments.
