Post Anybody ever heard of Starr Labs?
Hi guys,

I just found out today about Starr Labs, they manufacture keyboards and guitar-like tapping instruments. https://www.starrlabs.com/

This one in particular, the Mini12 (https://www.starrlabs.com/product/mini12/) reminded me of Emmett's idea of a fully MIDI stringless stick. I think he even has a patent on that...

Cheers,
Walter

Yes they've been around since the mid 80s.

oh, I had no idea they existed. I found out because a guy wanted to trade his Z7S for two of my sticks... Obviously, I passed.

If you are interested in this kind of thing , take a look at the LinnStrument. If I ever decided to get a synthesizer controller, This would probably be what I would get. The stick keeps me plenty occupied though

Linnstrument is awesome, i almost bought one. I tried one once. Pressure sensitive pads and infinite mapping. I wanted the big one but never got around to it, definitely something to have in the toolbox, especially if you know midi and synth type stuff. Roger Linn!!! Roknrol. Maybe someday.

I almost robbed a bank way back for these. I think this Starr guy is a mafia drug lord genius or cia undercover. Like if your into their stuff they know your a mad hatter! Jk.

If you can find a gen 2 you rock guitar. I have gen 1 and its perfect It is a supposed kids toy called you rock guitar for $90 and the midi out is perfect with TAP MODE
Note: strumming is semi terrible. They have custom tuning so you could get 2 and get gangster tap midi thing for cheap though....

The tap mode on the membrane soft type fretboard is what a 'toy' Stick could be made of. It would be nothing like real feel or sound of course but man I don't mind tapping that soft membrane for midi. Weird haha. Anyway, I know its hard to believe the child midi guitar.
