Re: Dragonfly
Back in the day, that is before the forum crash there was a lot of animosity toward competitive builders. The reason for that hostility was because of unethical and unfair marketing strategies practiced by one individual. Having stood the test of time SE has remained far and above the best tapping instrument in the world with no one being able to rival the quality, ingenuity and playability of "The Stick". The one competitor has gone out of business and since then, by and large, the attitude of people on this forum has been inclusive of people who want to share their ideas about building tapping instruments.
I think that the idea of a 'tapping instrument' is too big to try and put some sort of litigative fence around and then try to police it. And how do you do that with other countries as I think that things like patents and intellectual property have sovereign boundaries.... The guy at "Dragonfly" if you study his website has made lots of different instruments, both tapping and traditional. It is hard to make musical instruments. Personally I respect the guy and would encourage him. Who knows he might figure out an unexpected way to enhance the tapping instrument.

Re: Dragonfly
Not much comparison to a Stick because they're only ever going to make 8 stringers and are just an 8 string bass in 4ths that you can tap. I looked into it. Nobody's gonna dump their Grand for one of these.

Re: Dragonfly
Emmett did it years ago with the 7 string. I got one from a guy in Australia in like 2006. It is a cool instrument in the Stick line up for the simple reason that it is more simple; paired down to seven strings with Bartolini pickups but also mono. So one lead into one effects chain. I think Emmett made only 12 in one production run. jRj

@ReyStick, I can hear your point of view, yet I don't share it at all. I know by saying what I will say I will probably not raise friendly feelings. I personally own 3 tap instruments, one is a Railboard and the 2 others are from 2 different companies. The all 3 have goods and bads, and really the Railboard is great, but the 2 others too. I think it is great that not only one brand do tap instruments. What would has been electric guitar if only Fender build it, and if all their fans reacted the way you do? Maybe only few thousands in the world would be electric guitarists... Maybe you feel you are part of an elite class, and that not all deserve to discover tap playing. Personally, I think music is about sharing, and not about patents. This is great to have the choice...
Yet this is only my point of view.
