Post Re: The Funky Nation
That was awesomely funky and funkingly awesome! I put it on BLAST in the studio and the family came running to see where the funk was coming from.

My 15-year old trumpet-playing daughter watched it with me, and when the trombone came on, she said "See! You should have let me play trombone! They rock!" And then the trumpet came in, and reminded her why she chose trumpet (and I reminded her that I actually wanted her to play flute, so she could join me in a prog rock band, but with trumpet, we can still get our ska down.)

Really good stuff, Randy!

Reminds me of when I lived in Oakland in 1973-74 and if you weren't gigging yourself, you could go see Tower of Power play somewhere in the Bay Area at least once a week. They were powerful and funky like this.

glad you guys like it! I really love this kind of music.

here's the Part 2 (not quite as good IMHO but still kickin'!)

My wife played/plays saxophone/flute etc in school and we went to see Dirty Dozen Brass Band, another NOLA staple, and they just blew her away..

Here's one of them:

man, that would have been cool. I have been very fortunate to live in Austin, TX for the last 30 years and therefore could regularly see some amazing bands, many before they became big, at tiny hole-in-the-wall joints for like $5-$10..

Honestly one of the main reasons I live here (and the list is long and very convincing! but we're full! don't move here!)

;)

Why not connect the power of brass with Stick power ? ;)

Yeah mahabresq! Actually both bands (Furen’s Nooba and Tarace Boulba) was created by Stickist Jo Ruffier des Aimes (the smiling player on the first video). He have a KissKissBankBank crowdfunding for his upcoming album: https://www.kisskissbankbank.com/fragil ... -des-aimes
