Post Broken sticks(drum sticks, that is) interesting clip
A friend of mine has drawn my attention to this video of drummer Nick Smith(?) breaking 2 sticks during what looks like a studio session. I think the video was, or is now being used to advertise a brand of cymbals.

Anyway, the first break is at around 1:50, then he gets another stick in amazing fashion at around 2:15 and finally, sadly, breaks another at 3:05. To me, the astounding thing is how little any of this flusters or even seems to have an effect on him at all.

Skip to the breaks if you are short on time or watch the entire 3 and a half mins if you are not. The backing music isn't bad at all!!! And there is a lot of great playing even between the breaks. I would recommend resizing the video to as large as you can to see all the details.

enjoy. Mike

Cool stuff. Occasionally, he had to switch hands on the one drum stick to get at other stuff. I kept waiting for someone to throw him another stick for the big finish--nope, still did paradiddles with one stick. Sweet! Thanks for sharing!
