Wow, Pete! That's my first good look at the Megatar. You handle it well. It looks just massively big, though. You seem to have the bass strings on the left side and the melody on the right and played uncrossed. Good work there!

Also, I enjoyed the background in your video. I have a green screen set up in the studio that I never use. Thank you for getting my thoughts going on doing something similar and thanks for sharing!

Thanks Steve!

Personally, I chose the Megatar in lieu of getting a Warr Phalanx but at those prices there was no way, plus the neck is even wider yet! In my last iteration of Jacob's ladder I had switched to Bass guitar exclusively. Then I got the bug to get back into tapping but wanted to explore different configurations after a 2 year hiatus from tapping.

At first I toyed with the idea of building an instrument myself, but after running the numbers and the type of tools required for a good quality build those ideas vanished quickly.

For uncrossed play I think the Megatar is great, but I don't think it would work too well for Crossed play - Stick tuning. Perhaps if you had really large hands? LOL

Once again, at the risk of pissing off the feudal lords, I don't think this kind of approach is suitable for inverted fifths playing.

The PR department may prove me wrong, but I think not. I am still waiting for a Goldberg Variations video, but I don't see it coming anytime soon. It's really difficult in 4ths, even more so in inverted 5ths at tempo.

Where did this guy get a megatar with a nice finish? Is this a new instrument made by the new owner? Did he have a Traktor model previously?

This guy, has a name its Pete. :)

This was a second generation Megatar actually made by Patrick Anders, the green pickguard is one that I made myself.

My tuning is straight 4ths, uncrossed similar to a Warr Phalanx. I'm a former Baritone Melody Stick Player.

Pete! I love your playing, you sound great! Didn't you post a video somewhere of a Frank Gambale tune? Maybe a riff off of one of his REH videos or something, perhaps?

Anyways, good stuff, dude! Keep on posting it, and I'll keep on watching and listening and learning!

Hello and thanks Jayesskerr,

Yea in the "demo video" I made on my channel, the second musical example
is from Frank Gambale's Technique book 1 "Cat's Sneeze".

Thanks again for the positive vibe!

Heh, fair enough, Pete.

I play a Warr Phalanx, and I also came from the baritone melody Stick tuning. Nice pick guard... I spoke with Patrick about his new megatars, he's a good guy.

I met Frank Gambale years ago in Norfolk at a clinic he did with Keith Horn and Victor Wooten. Keith Horn, holy shit. He's from Virginia Beach, my home town. Scary good.

I like your performance, Pete.
