Make that "electromechanically" rather than electronic.

Re: Other innovative "interesting" instruments...
Thanks for the kind comments guys, I did have a lot of fun playing the zendrum in that band! It was very cool to look back, I haven't seen those videos in quite a while. No cyberspace twenties needed, it was fun to watch again! Yes, it seems we Stickists have a genetic mutation that says, "wow, what is that cool instrument...I think I need one!". Couldn't possibly be satisfied playing a standard instrument lol! I don't think I want Mr Peabody to fire up the way back machine tho... I have enough issues with a full drumkit, never mind a 200 Ton Telharmonium !!

Re: Other innovative "interesting" instruments...
Might be lots of people that gravitate towards the Stick and such instruments possibly have a lust for music that maybe veers away from what the radio waves are saturated with. Perhaps all of these folks are just looking for new avenues of expression, and thusly new tools...

I played full-time for a couple years in a band featuring Stick, 6-string fretted Viper violin (from Mark Wood), piano, and drums (and we all sang). That was a fun project, and the violin was distinct tone enough from the Stick to keep things sonically identifiable.

Have you been to the monthly Stick night meetings as Oz music? If I've already met you and forgotten your name, I am so sorry! But I live near Warren, just an hour away, as do many other Michiganders. If you've NOT come out, you totally should! We have a good time at Oz Music and have had guests, and guest teachers via Skype (Bob C and Steve A, to mention 2). I've missed the last couple because of other engagements. Hopefully see you at the next one! --Steve

Quote: You live in Ann Arbor? Sorry, I will update my profile. I lived in Ann Arbor for over 30 years, took lessons with Oz for a decade, got a Stick in 1997 at Oz's, worked at Oz's for 8 years both teaching and sales, and I helped organize many of the early Stick events there and introduce the Stick to folks at the store. However, I now live in Oregon (as of 2013).

I was just embarrassed if you were one of the two or three people whose names I can never remember that is not named "Steve" (there's like 6 or 12 of us Stickist Steves now! and 4 of them live near me, and then Steve A on the Skype and it's Steve Central!) Cheers! Hope you're rocking it out in Oregon! --Stickist Steve #6

It's good to see Aaron back here. His band was Darktown Saints, really cool mix of instruments. I still play the cd regularly. Hope all is well Aaron!

Re: Other innovative "interesting" instruments...
Funny thing about Aaron Wolf, I found out about his Darktown Saints CD not from Oz, but from some guy on this board from Australia. I had heard of him at the time, but not his band. They played at the 2006 Stick festival in A2 so I did get to actually see them play. I bought the CD at Oz's store, great music. The violin filled in great as a substitute electric guitar.
