Re: New beer discoveries...
Here is an article I thought would be a good addition to this thread. http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/new ... eer-stone/This is that same fierce, independent and creative fire I see in the continued success of Stick Enterprises.

Weyerbacher's Blithering Idiot. It's heavy with a nice fruity finish to it. An English style ale, so it's warm and welcoming. New favorite for sure.

Re: New beer discoveries...
Over here in the UK it all seems to be about craft gin at the moment. I like gin.
I am waiting for a similar explosion in the craft beer arena though. There are some micro breweries, but non in my neck of the woods. #envious.

Re: New beer discoveries...
This ruby red, cherry tinged little nightmare of an ale rocked me good and proper. My wife drank two on draft on an empty stomach. Thirty minutes later, the barkeep was helping me get her to the car. 11% alcohol!! The beer that goes to 11.

Mad Elf is potent, no doubt. I went away feeling they just spiked the stuff... the flavor was not very complex or rich, IMO, but still worth a go if you like a stiff drink. Got some at Total Wine in Va Beach, not sure how many have that store in your area.

Too much alcohol, like too much speed when you play music, ruins the experience... nothing exceeds like excess... I prefer subtlety, it's more memorable...

This beer was more of a dare than an enjoyable beverage. Just give me a Dogfish Head 60 or a Newburyport IPA and I'm a happy dude.

Re: New beer discoveries...
For a brief time back around 1997, there was a brew that had the distinction of having the highest alcohol content in world. It came from, of all places, Samuel Adams. It was their "Triple Bock" and the alcohol content weighed in at 18%. It came in a small royal blue bottle with gold lettering. As far as taste ... well ... if you like dessert wines like ports or sherries (and I do), then you'd probably have liked it. If it was a heavy beer taste you were looking for, then probably not so much. I actually still have one unopened bottle. I have no idea if something like this keeps so I'm either going to open something akin to a fine wine or I'm going to open the most vial substance known to man. Stay tuned
