Post Re: Chopin - Waltz in A minor
I like classical music very much (since I'm an upright bass player).
The arrangement (and the perfomance too) is pretty fine. I have some new Shubert pieces arranged for 12-string classic, let me know if you're interested.

BTW, how did you produce the StaffTab?

I used Finale.

Yeah, I am a fan too. I confess, I "stole" some video of you performing this at the 2013 FHA Master class and used it for the intro to the State of the Stick for 2013.

While I liked the clip you “stole”, somehow playing for Stickists is a bit nerve-wracking, especially with Emmett right in front of you.

I really appreciate how you have become this piece. No one can play it with such grace and confidence. Good job Claire, you know, we all want more now, right? :D

So I hear… And apparently I should smile…

Thanks for the kind comments Gene, although I do hope others will play it. ;)

Beautiful all around. Excellent mastery of playing up the neck with both hands (something I struggle with). Thanks.

The left hand so high up was Greg’s suggestion. I found it uncomfortable at first. Then again, I wasn’t really used to the instrument when I started on this anyway. I’ve gotten used to playing there and it feels comfortable now. I also really like how it sounds there for this piece. Now I’m finding the wider fretboard of my 12-String Grand feeling odd to play this piece on, but I’m sure I’ll get used to it too.

Learning this piece and playing that high up allowed me to learn the notes in that area. For a while, I actually knew my way around frets 7-12 better than 2-7 on the bass side. So if anyone’s trying to specifically learn that area, this arrangement could help.

I’ve honestly never played any Schubert, it would be great to see some of that music arranged for Stick. Others might be interested too.

I switched over my file storage to Google Drive, so I took the opportunity to update the Chopin StaffTab to include the chord symbols. This should be easier for anyone having difficulty reading through. Just play the melody with the chords noted.

The file is here, I also updated my original post with the new link.

I had some weirdness opening the Finale file again, so had to fix a bunch of string markers. If you notice anything wrong with the notation, please let me know.
