Post Learn update ~10mon &/ Bad Romance cover/arr. W/vids now!
Hey guys,
This is my contribution before I take off for the FHA next week! I would only recommend watching about half the update video. I ramble some. Oh well. These are just as much for me as they are for all of you.

This is my arrangement and rendition of Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance." I figure if David Tipton can do it with Wrecking Ball, I can do it to a similarly popular song.

The effects were done in Guitar Rig 5 running in Reaper. Reaper also crashed AS I WAS SAVING THE PROJECT the first time. Luckily I was able to recover raw files. Phew.

I neglected to mention my excellent lesson with Dave Brosky the other day in the update. Saying I learned a lot would be an understatement, and most of it was with the Stick not being played.

Upon revision of the video, I can tell my hand movement needs much work. I should also practice more while standing. I've gotten so spoiled from my lapdawg standing seems like a chore. Maybe next time I'll find a stool ala Bob Culbertson.

Update #4

I will watch the videos after I finish this Skype call. Yes, I will watch all of the rambling: I like a good ramble.

Andy,

Good performance. I also enjoyed the behind the scenes info.

Kudos for the "one take live performance" and mentioning the
pros and cons of it.

Interesting to see how you made the video.

After all that, hope you got some (yawn) sleep. :)

thanks guys! I guarantee that I went to bed directly after filming. Much needed sleep after a long day on the set!

Maybe in the future I'll have access to another camera so I don't have to do a one take performance and I can feature my arrangement or song better. But this is good because it shows my growth as a player better.

Putting two different effect on the stick is a very nice approach of this instrument. I also do it sometimes. For someone who's not looking at the video but just hearing the music I'm sure it's a different aspect in his mind. Your stick configuration is nice too...these black inlays are quite looking good. Congrats for your playing and presentation...

Andy,

I am totally jealous of your progress. Nicely done. As to your question at 10 min into the ramble "What can you do?" I wanted to tell you to go to sleep. Thanks for making it sound like hair loss is a choice. Yes, we choose to look this way to play Stick.

Cheers,
Daniel

See you at FHA

Thanks J! That's my absolute favorite shirt that's so worn out but is always on the front lines ready for battle. I saw the Residents a few years ago and it's in my top 5 shows.

Thank you very much Alain! I was a bit iffy on the distortion though. I probably should have played around with it more but I was very eager to get it posted.

Oops  I didn't mean it that way! Sorry guys! I was very much needing sleep and saying dumb things and yawning all over the place. I'm a nice guy I swear!

Thanks for your kind words Daniel and see you in a few days!
