Post Flying Zone
Well...this music is a tribute to the people killed lately over Ukraine.

The Stick is there to create a basic track...I don't know how many tracks I recorded because it's done on a looper and I cannot have the information. I completed it with sound effects with my electric cello...there is for example a chinese food stick I use to tap some notes on my cello. Once the ambiance reached what I was looking for I put on top of it a solo of cello with distortion...I added a wha-wha later.

R.I.P. for these innocent people...

Alain,
Wow, very heartfelt and very musical!

I liked the original melody which you evolved into a motif, coming back around on it. The almost neutrality of the two chord ambience gives you the freedom then to modally explore and create the moods and textures which define the somberness of the piece.

I think it works on all levels very effectively and is real listenable which to me IMHO the watermark of what separates a true musical piece, like the one here, from some braggadocio rambling that is so rampant in this genre.

Not applicable here, because you did a tremendous effort in a very short period of time- by nature of when the piece was published and the tragedy -I am always leery of pieces made in response to a tragedy because often times they are rushed and come out sounding like "The Final Countdown" by Europe sung by that "sometimes when we touch" 70's singer. The unfortunate end result is that the song defines the tragedy due to over exposure by a self serving media looking for quick content. and the tragedy is then marginalized.

Again, congratulations on a true and honest piece capturing this sad event.
Thank you for your creativity, sensitivity and sharing of this post.
Dave Brosky

Thanks Dave for your comments...as you know, it's always appreciated.

To work with a looper like the one I have drives you in a limited musical concept. So, that is why I concentrate myself only on "small parts" of what could be a complete piece of music with all the arrangements. I don't work with these programms on computer 'cause I don't have a sound card or/and an interface. It's a very minimal concept and I experiment on one idea at a time.

I'd like to get a bigger looper to "imagine" a B, C and D part if possible. The thing is I always record all of this within an hour or less...It's a musical flash and nothing more. That would be tough even for myslef to reproduce what I've done here. If it's recorded on different tracks, that would be ok but it's not...it's one over the one before.

About these people killed...well I didn't want to focus too much on this. After my recording was done I was just thinking about them. What a tragedy...I don't know if I'm wrong but since a couple of years I really have the impression we are going directly to the wall of another world war...we'll need another "brick in the wall"...

Thanks for dedicating this piece :-)
About 8 victims lived less than 10 miles from where I live, including 3 of which in my city. I don't know any victims in person, but its still very close to me now.
And I think you're right, seeing what is happening these times, it sure looks like the stage is being set for a big conflict.
In NL, lots of militairy troops are not allowed on leave this weekend, they probably are gonna be sent (armed) to secure the crashsite, it's like that it will cause trouble if you ask me...
Anyways, thanks again for the piece, I enjoyed it :-)

Cheers,
Bas

I don't want to switch this thread in a politic one but it looks bad when we see what's going on right now in the middle east, between Israel and Palestine, Ukraine and Russians and Russian rebels, etc...without speaking about center Africa where a lot of people are killed for religion's purpose (medias are not talking about it but it looks like what happened in Rwanda about 20 years ago...terrible)...so...not easy to see a nice feature on our planet...Religions (in general) are very often the target point of these conflicts. On my side I don't believe in man's religions even though I belive in a Superior force over our head. Man's religions are very often an abuse of power in my opinion...and I don't want tu hurt anyone here...that's just an opinion. Because there is a lot of good people into these groups. Thanks for listening (coming back to the real reason of this thread)...

Thanks Kataway, both for the music and the dedication. I know that people die every day but as a professional pilot the thought of an airliner being shot down just sickens me, much worse than if it were a simple accident. I feel like I knew every one of those souls personally.

Thanks again for the music.

Say this mantra; There will be no war. Say it like it is a declaration from your spirit.

Excellent mood evoked by this looping piece aside from the subject (or because of it).

Art like this helps us live.

I guess it's very scary for people like you...no control on a possible situation is freaking out. No possibility to land because someone somewhere decided that you won't...wow...
