Post Recorded another SG12 tune today
SG12/PASV-4 through AxeFxII amp:

It was fun to explore the orchestrating capabilities of the PASV-4 pickup. I learned a lot and will return to this "PASV-4 painting" many times in the future.

Very nice! I love the melodic sections especially. Nice, rich sound. I could listen to that over and over again.

Fantastic Per. Great texture, +1 to Marty's comment - lots of replay value here.

It's very melodic Per and easy listening...like it a lot. These effects you're playing with are fun to hear. I can imagine it come from this toy - AxeFxII amp - ...sounds really good. Congratulations.

Are there any overdubs, or was this all one take? In other words, could you play this as it is with just your Stick and an amp? Either way, a beautiful piece!

It is four layered Stick tracks. The first one, the lead, is playing all through as a leading "first-take". Then I kind of "painted in" here and there with three more layers, each one with a bit different amp sound and different knob settings on the PASV-4 pickup.

The weird freely improvised part by the middle of the piece is also part of the original lead take. The exact (technical) method for this is that I'm playing with two delay effects - one on each fretboard output - and then I have two expression pedals, matching one for each fretboard. Each one of the two pedals controls three parameters: "input level", "delay unit's wet level" and "delay units loop feedback". If I want I can place my foot to wiggle both pedals in one move and this will "freeze" looping audio in both fretboard's output signal chain. When this happens a poly rhythm appears because the bass fretboard goes through a delay bouncing on fourth notes while the melody fretboard goes through a delay bouncing on eighth notes. And on top of this we have the icing of the cake: both delay's frequency is modulated by a square wave LFO between thee states: Original pitch/speed, Octave up/double speed, Octave down/half speed. This vari-speed processing sounds like "icicle magic" but is almost not heard when a pedal is toe-down, but when a pedal is toe-up the icicles gladly manifest. That way you can play the Stick and apply effects by taste as you go.

Enjoyable, Per. The layers add interest while not taking away anything from the melody line.

The improv part with the altered loops, etc. was quite nice. I don't have that device so have no idea how you accomplished it. But, I can see similar effects being triggered thru Ableton Live or some other DAW software.

Just this weekend I got my rig wired into my studio gear. So, fun times ahead!

Again, I do enjoy your compositions.

Randy

It isn't about the device, it's just plain signal routing (as described a few posts above). I've done that processing setup in Ableton Live, Plogue Bidule and Mainstage (v.3). Should work out fine too with a mixer, two delay units and a bucket of cables.
