"Insecure"
I'm back with another tune of Annagrey's. We laid this one down last night, and while it's not a final performance, and not completely polished, I'd still as always like to share it with you. If I'm starting too many threads, please call me out on it and I'll just keep everything in one from now on... Thanks https://soundcloud.com/canyon-kafer/insecure

Re: "Insecure"
Real nice. Your tone and playing is good, and the tune has some nice motion going on. Looking forward to hearing it in a more advanced state!

Re: "Insecure"
This sounds great. Really cool how the low notes of the stick and piano blend so well.
But I also think this is just a really well-composed song with some wonderfully surprising chord changes going from the chorus to the verses.

Re: "Insecure"
That's one thing I love about Annagrey's writing - she likes to "think outside the pop" chordally. Thanks all for listening and for your kind words!

But I also think this is just a really well-composed song with some wonderfully surprising chord changes going from the chorus to the verses. Within an arrangment you always have to be aware about what it's called "low interval limit" concerning the interaction between instruments playing in the low range. We have here an example where the unison is probably the best solution. When you write for a section of saxophones or trombones you have to look carefully where are your limits to write a major (minor) 3rd or a fifth as the lowest notes of your harmony. It's more difficult if you want to use altered notes in the bass line. Well...i'ts a bit complicated and simple at the same time. Your ears can help you a lot.
