Mike Clancy and I, Stick 2 It!, were asked to perform for a networking event at the beautiful Gaetano's here tomorrow night Tuesday October 22nd.

We will be there from 5:30 to 8:00 pm They have Murder Mystery theatre there- and it'll be a mystery if we don't murder a tune or two!

We hope to network some gigs and holiday parties out of it! .... we are that transparent. No kidding sometimes you have to do a "loss leader" to get PR and noticed, out there. Big selling point with the Stick ( and Stick 2 It!) you can sound like multiple musicians for the cost of a single or duo.

These days, the people that hire for these type of events are even under more restrictive budgets than ever and are even forgoing the most important part of appreciating their own employees. We, Stickists, have the advantage of selling the lower price without sacrificing good quality of music and entertainment. Plus you get the gig!

The networking event was a success! People were very appreciative for live music.

We respected the "environment" -they were there to talk to each other and we watched our volume. No Spinal Tap "#11" volume! and as a result we garnered more respect and praise without gaping looks or sneers or people pointing to us and their ears!

Lot of cards went out and the proprietor took a stack for referrals for upcoming events. The neatest selling point was how low we could play and still funk out/rock it, and how small of a "footprint" [hip jive networking term] we could fit into.

One (1) person knew it was a Chapman Stick! The usual "what is that thing" was asked, and one called it a "Gizmo"- wow, there's a term of art. So I'd smile, and say "it was invented by Emmett Chapman in ......" and play some quick demo pieces showing all the different styles.

Plus we got a ton of food ( real neat stuff like Batchula, Hummus, Foccacia, plus the usual pasta and meatballs) to take home and a gift certificate for playing!

All in all a good deal all the way around, you could say a "win-win" but I WOULDN"T!
There are a lot of opportunities like this out there.

Just be creative- you are all creative, intelligent, and visionary if you are playing the Stick IMHO! Remember toot your own horn, no one else is!
