First Light
As you can tell, I'm pulling out a few recordings that are "in the can" and putting them up on Sound Cloud. This tune "First Light" originally began as an Absynth and Alto Stick duet. The two parts are almost unison throughout. A little Minimoog bass comes in during the 2nd verse. The ending section adds rhythm, 12-string acoustic guitar, Mellotron (G-Force M-Tron), and some slide electric guitar. https://soundcloud.com/gpoorman/first-light

Re: First Light
Glenn, That was absolutely gorgeous! You use of a long extended melodic line which transpires through the piece brings unison and release. I love the variances around 2:44 and 3:50 still incorporating the line or its motifs. This section has "end of film" score all over it.
Most of all, it is one of the finest pieces I've heard in a long time. Well composed, thought out and extremely well played. At first i thought, electric slide guitar, but it was so tastefully played and blended and added a mournful soulful touch, was excellent. The orchestration with Absynth was amazing and very well put together- each part flowing into another and each timbre complimentary to the next one.
Thank you for this post to show great composition is still alive and well, Dave Brosky

Re: First Light
Superb Glenn. Love the sweepy drums that come in around 3 minutes. Kind of reminds me of Enigma's tune Return to Innocence.
Slick track man.
cheers, kev

Re: First Light
Holy shyte, man ... sorry to be so uncouth, but way to score a direct hit on suckers for a pretty track like Kevin-C and myself! It's a beautiful tune, sweetly atmospheric, and very well-produced. Love the Mellotron ... adds such a great touch, that was a perfect color/timbre choice. That's a real killer, Glenn. Bravo!
