Late night soundbite
Sometimes I feel like anything I come up with while just fooling around sounds a bit like King Crimson. Other times I think, maybe they're just fooling around and that's why it sounds like that? No, can't be, too elaborate... or is it? Anyway... when I try to come up with something specific, sometimes I get blocked. Other times, something entirely different emerges; I need to learn to just let go, and let whatever is in there (or out there?) manifest itself. This is what happened this time. It's a process, I guess. https://soundcloud.com/chochos/acordes- ... edia-noche

Re: Late night soundbite
That was cool. It would work nicely either as a song idea in itself, or a bridge within a song.

Re: Late night soundbite
Yeah, that sounds like a bit pulled right off the Beat album. Just waiting for Bruford to kick in at any moment there!

Re: Late night soundbite
It looks to me a nice 6/4, isn't it? The complexity is to find something to add after this riff and then add another riff and another, etc...That is a work in progress. Excellent!

Re: Late night soundbite
Thank you all for you input! Yes I definitely think it's the basis for a new composition. It just came up and I wanted to record it so I wouldn't forget it the next day since that happens rather often to me, although I sometimes feel that the version I try to remember the next day, being distorted by my imperfect memory, could be even better. But I really like this riff so I made the extra effort to record it right then and there and after that, well... why not upload it...
Right now I want to concentrate on recording the piece I performed at Stick Night MX and after that, I'll just "play it by ear" and see what comes up; but I definitely want to keep making music like this!

Re: Late night soundbite
Enrique. Cool soundcloud! You shouldn't say it sounds like Crimson, you should say it sounds like Crimson trying to sound like me! Maybe it is like in Back to the Future where Robert Fripp's cousin hears you, picks up the phone, and says "Robert, here is the sound you've been looking for!" actually, really good start to something- i'm hearing a line over it, and at least some snare popping in -just sayin. Greg has two pieces "Pentastick" (pronounced fantastick as Greg told me years ago with a grin) [Stick Figures] and "Tim Was Here" [Ether Ore]you could give a listen to see how a line like that develops. on the right track, can't wait to hear more, Dave Brosky

Re: Late night soundbite
hehehe thanks Dave! Somehow, it wouldn't surprise me if Fripp could travel in time.
