Post A recording from K Rex
This is the first piece we recorded in the studio yesterday and the day before, half-improvised, half-composed. As far as my Warr stuff goes, it is quite simplistic. It hasn't been mixed at all, but I liked the performance despite a couple mistakes so I wanted to share. I'd share more, but this is the only file my brother has submitted to me so far.

It is the intro to a much longer piece called "Leeches".

I don't know who Don Cherry is (but now I'm gonna find out!) and I don't play Stick right now, but I'll take that as a compliment and I thank you for it. A compliment indeed, coming from an accomplished Stickist.

I'll be posting some more stuff soon. Depending on how much we recorded is usable, we'll be releasing either our first EP or LP in the next 2 months.

Best,

Kev

Don Cherry is the host of "hockey night in canada", bold ,boisterous, terse, and to the point type of fellow. Known for his big shirt collars, his dog Blue, and his nasty demeanor.........

That was cool Kev, drummer sounds killer.......thanks for sharing.

cheers,
kev

What's the instrumentation? Sounds good. I especially like the drummer.

Hmmmm ... not sure if the Don Cherry reference is good or not ;) But as a Detroit area resident (born and raised), I am certainly very familiar with HNIC and with Don and Ron.

So Kevin, the Cherry reference and the Brantford location. Does that mean you're a hockey guy? In addition to all the Stick playing, my wife and I are currently billet parents for two members of the Plymouth Whalers (OHL). Fun stuff that I could easily go off on in a whole other thread :)

Post Re: A recording from K Rex
I wanted to share the larger piece from which the original clip was taken. Our guitarist quit abruptly just two days after we got some airplay, and 10 or so days before a slew of gigs. Totally screwed the band, but it worked out. We decided to simply forge ahead as a 2-piece until we could find a replacement, and the results have been really astonishing. Going into the studio to record the new stuff in October, can't wait to share with you guys. It's much more an intricate tapping thing than our trio, in which we constantly made concessions to the third party. Really hate the solos in the second part of this piece... Oh, well.

In any case, I really like this piece but it's full of mistakes, lacks my solos (particularly at the end, where it's totally unfinished and awaiting overdubs). A good bit of this should have been re-recorded, but I don't see the point in reworking old material. This will become a warts-and-all EP in the interest of moving forward with newer, more interesting (and much more complicated) material.

I'll post some of the bass stuff soon as well.

Peace,

Kev
