Post Higher Ground
Hurray for week #24 of song of the week! Thank goodness for Stevie Wonder - if you grew up listening to Innervisions, or had an older sibling that cranked it around the house, you know what I am talking about.

Hope you are well and feeling alright! :D

Yep. Need to go into youtube and at least make the video unlisted.

Love your daughters blah blah hand puppet funny stuff.

Man, that's such a smart way of getting around the rhythm issues of that song.

Fun viewing this on several levels. I'm reminded of how it feels to wear the Daddy's hat. You give a lot and in return your kid can be natural and expressive, even aggressive about it.

Then there's the song arranger's hat, maybe just a visor and red pencil. That shuffle groove has momentum, or do they call that "swing"? It seems to drive itself.

Then I notice the fingers. Their motion is smoother and subtler than I remember. Fun to watch Gene's fingering on this song - both hands. Toward the end, his body seems to be loosening up too, absorbing the groove.

All that's left is the inanimate Stick. Thanks Gene, and thanks again Stevie.
